Browser Extension Privacy Policy

1. About the extension

Orangeprop CE (“the extension”) is a Chrome extension for orangeprop customers. It lets a logged-in CRM user send a WhatsApp message to a contact directly from the orangeprop CRM page, without leaving it, by relaying the message through the user’s own WhatsApp Web session. This policy explains what the extension stores, what it transmits, and with whom. The extension is a product of Perseus Intelligence.

2. Data the extension stores (on your device only)

The extension keeps a small amount of diagnostic data in your browser’s local storage. It stays on your device:

  • Activity log — a rolling buffer of up to the most recent 200 send attempts. Each entry holds a timestamp, a status/error code, a salted SHA-256 hash of the recipient’s number (not the number itself), a short message preview (up to 80 characters), and the WhatsApp message ID on success.
  • A random salt used to hash recipient numbers, generated once on first use.
  • A short-lived de-duplication cache (about 5 minutes) that prevents the same message from being sent twice.
  • Popup display state — which diagnostics tab was last open.

The extension does not send this activity log, or any telemetry or analytics, to orangeprop or to any third party.

3. Data the extension transmits (only to deliver your message)

When you trigger a send from the orangeprop CRM:

  • The message content and recipient are sent through your own logged-in WhatsApp Web session, operated by WhatsApp/Meta, in order to deliver the message. This is the extension’s core function. WhatsApp/Meta’s handling of that data is governed by WhatsApp’s own privacy policy.
  • For a “send media from a URL” action, the extension fetches the media file from the URL the CRM provides so it can be attached to the message.

The extension does not transmit your data to any other destination.

4. CRM-side logging (separate from the extension)

The orangeprop CRM web application may record the outcome of a send you initiate — such as the recipient number, message, status, and WhatsApp message ID — in its own server-side audit/logging, as part of normal CRM record-keeping. That logging is performed by the CRM, not by the extension, and is covered by our main Privacy Policy.

5. Data sharing

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not transfer your data to third parties except: (a) the WhatsApp/Meta delivery described above, and (b) the media fetch from the CRM-supplied URL — both strictly necessary for the extension’s single purpose.

6. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Our use of information received via the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used solely to provide the single purpose described above. It is not sold, not used for advertising or any unrelated purpose, and not transferred except as required to operate the feature.

7. Permissions the extension requests

  • Tabs — to locate your open WhatsApp Web tab so the message can be relayed to it.
  • Scripting — to inject the messaging bridge into the WhatsApp Web tab when needed.
  • Storage — to keep the on-device diagnostics/activity log and the de-duplication cache.
  • Access to web.whatsapp.com — to relay your message into your logged-in WhatsApp Web session.
  • Access to the orangeprop CRM — to add the in-page send capability to the CRM.

8. Data retention

On-device data persists in your browser profile until it is overwritten (the activity log is a fixed-size rolling buffer) or until you clear your browser data or remove the extension.
